Out of a multitude of popular dance numbers from the 1990s, 'Neend Churayi Meri' from Indar Kumar's 1997 romantic comedy Ishq still continues to be a tap-worthy one. With the same idea in mind, filmmaker Rohit Shetty has decided to incorporate the hit number into his comedy ensemble Golmaal Again.
Bollywood Hungama reports that Shetty has also taken to the trend of including rehashes of old popular songs in films to cash in on their popularity to leverage the promotions of the film. Interestingly, Ajay Devgn, who featured in the original song, will also be seen in the rehashed version along with the ensemble cast of Golmaal Again.
Shetty has roped in music composer Amaal Malik to rejig the song, originally composed by his uncle Anu Malik. Mid-Day quotes Amaal as saying, "I am doing two songs for the film, one among which is 'Neend Churayi'. It's a big responsibility. It is also a tribute to my uncle, Anu Malik, who composed the original. We will retain the hook line and add new verses to the song. It will suit the mood of the film." He also confirms that the song will not have a rap or EDM sequence, unlike the trend.
Golmaal Again also stars Tabu, Parineeti Chopra, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Khemu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Prakash Raj and Johnny Lever. It is co-produced by Ajay Devgn Ffilms and Rohit Shetty Production. It is slated to release this Diwali on 20 October.
