Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

What's it about: Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is probably the biggest film of 2016; even sans the controversy. Karan Johar's new magnum opus is a romantic comedy that seems to have Ranbir Kapoor dallying with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma.

Who's in it: Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan.

Why it may work: It's a Karan Johar film and if that doesn't entice you then watch it because of the controversy surrounding it.

What's it about: Shivaay, a Himalayan mountaineer, is your average joe who transforms into a destroyer when he needs to protect his family.

Why it may work: Ajay Devgn is the major crowd pulling factor here.

Wolves At The Door

What's it about: Based on the Manson family murders, the plot takes us to 1969 where four friends gather for a farewell party only to be assaulted by murderous intruders.

Who's in it: Katie Cassidy, Elizabeth Henstridge, Jane Kaczmarek

Why it may work: If you enjoy horror and gore, this film is for you.

Wolves At The Door is directed by John R Leonetti.


What's it about: Kaashmora, a present era black magic specialist; Rajnayak, an ancient era warlord and Ratnamahadevi is his queen. How are the three connected? The issues that arise forms the story of this historic-horror-comedy movie.

Who's in it: Karthi plays a triple role, Nayantara, Sri Divya, Vivek

Why it may work: A dark fantasy with a strong cast. The film has already garnered a lot of praise for the sets and costumes.

Kaashmora is directed by Gokul.


What's it about: Kodi narrates the clash between twin brothers over their ideals when one becomes a powerful politician and the other is an upright young man.
Who's in it: Dhanush in a double role, Trisha Krishnan, Anupama Parameswaran and SA Chandrasekhar
Why it may work: Having two Dhanush in a film should help.

Kodi is directed by RS Durai Senthilkumar.


What's it about: A comedy entertainer set in a village, Kadalai is based on the theme of farming, the film comes with a social message.

Who's in it: Ma Ka Pa Anand, Aishwarya Rajesh, Yogi Babu

Why it may work: A comedy film with a social message sounds like a recipe for success.

Kadalai is directed by P Sagayasuresh.


Santhu Straight Forward

What's it about: An action entertainer, Santhu Straight Forward is an all out commercial film about a strong-willed man who is frank about his thoughts.

Who's in it: Yash, Radhika Pandit

Why it may work: We'll wait for the film's release to know.

Mukanda Murari

What's it about: A remake of the Hindi film OMG — Oh My God!, Mukanda Murari is a satirical comedy film. It narrates the story of an atheist Murari who sues God after an earthquake strikes his shop. Krishna in the guise of a human visits him and helps him fight a court case against religious organisations.

Who's in it: Upendra, Sudeep

Why it may work: Remade from a great film, and to top it, the presence of two Kannada superstars Uppi and Kichcha.
