Just when the Indian film industry thought they could heave a sigh of relief with Pahlaj Nihalani being sacked as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chairperson, he made sure his presence (or rather his absence) is felt. In probably the last decision made during his tenure, the Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer A Gentleman has found itself at the receiving end of the censor’s scissors. Image via Twitter[/caption] According to a report by DNA, the film has a kissing scene between Malhotra and Fernandez which ‘goes on for too long’. Hence, the certification board has asked the makers of the film, Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru, to do away with the kissing scene or reduce the duration of it by 70 percent. The report further states the said scene was reportedly the longest on-screen kiss ever in Bollywood, even surpassing the record holder: Aamir Khan-Karisma Kapoor 1996 film, Raja Hindustani. The makers have also been asked to remove an English expletive from the film, in order to get a U/A certificate. A Gentleman features Malhotra in contrasting double roles (Gaurav and Rishi) who are poles apart in their behaviour — while Gaurav is “sundar, susheel”, Rishi is the “bad boy”. Fernandez plays the role of Kavya, who loves Gaurav but wishes for him to take risks more often. Packed with action, romance, adventure and a fair share of comedy, the film is all set to hit theatres on 25 August.
