2.0: Investors ask director Shankar to wait for release of Rajinikanth-starrer before starting work on Indian 2
Director Shankar's big-ticket project 2.0 has been in limbo for quite some time now. Despite the postponed release, the director is already looking at a possible sequel to his 1996 Tamil vigilante film Indian, which has Kamal Haasan in the leading role. However, the mobile brand which has reportedly invested a huge amount in 2.0, has told Shankar that he can only commence work on Indian 2 after the release of the Rajinikanth-starrer, reports DNA.
Ajay Devgn, too, is being considered for a pivotal role in Indian 2 and Shankar has reportedly narrated the script of the film to him. However, the head executives of the mobile company have collectively asked Shankar to focus on getting the long-awaited film to the theatres first.
Another report by the same publication claims that 2.0 revolves around cell phone addiction. However, there is no official confirmation about this information.
2.0 will also see Bollywood star Akshay Kumar mark his Tamil debut. The sci-fi film also stars Amy Jackson, who is paired opposite Rajinikanth. Although the pre-production work had begun in 2015, the film's release has been pushed multiple times due to exhaustive VFX. There is still no clarity on when the film will see the light of the day.
