Ananya Nanda wins Indian Idol Junior 2: Here are some of her best performances
Indian Idol Junior is one of the few reality shows that makes you feel overwhelmed just by the sheer amount of talent on display in children. The second season of the show ended on Sunday giving us one winner and over a dozen musical talents to watch out for.
Ananya Nanda lifted the trophy and received the prize money of Rs 10 lakhs beating two other girls Nahid Afrin and Nithyashree Venkataramanan . Nanda is 14-years old and hails from Bhubaneshwar in Odisha. A self-confessed fan of Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh, the little singing star considers veteran music composer Anandji of the Kalyanji-Anandji duo as her lucky charm.
Ananya has often been praised by the judges for her versatility and was hailed as a rockstar by Sonakshi Sinha, one of the judges on the show. Right from the initial auditions to the theatre round, she was consistent in her performance. Here are some of Ananya Nanda's best performances on India Idol Junior.
Ananya belted out this number from Race, originally sung by Monali Thakur, back in July in a duet with singer Shivam Pathak, also a former contestant of Indian Idol. The song as part of a round called Blind Performance and recived her rave reviews from judges Sonakshi Sinha, Vishal Dadlani and Salim Merchant.
Arri Aaja Nindiya
Ananya's rendition of this classic 'lori' sung by stalwarts Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar was soulful and highly praised by all the judges.
Ruth aa gayi re
It takes great potential to take a song sung by Sukhwinder Singh and composed by AR Rahman and give it your own spin and that's what Ananya did in her version of Rut aa gayi re from 1947 Earth which earned her standing ovation from all the judges.
Kamli, the song from Dhoom 3 that features Katrina Kaif dancing to Sunidhi Chauhan's voice was performed by Ananya in front of Katrina, who had come to Indian Idol Junior as a guest.
Hai rama yeh kya hua
In the theatre round audition, Ananya was the first contestant to perform and sang Hai Rama yeh kya hua from Rangeela. Her rendition of the AR Rahman hit was what kisckstarted her journey in Indian Idol Junior. Watch the video here
