Delhi youth arrested for sexually assaulting infant

New Delhi: A 26-year-old youth was arrested for sexually assaulting an eight-month-old girl in Delhi, police said on Friday.

The incident was reported from south Delhi’s Sarita Vihar area on August 12.

The accused, identified as Lal Bahadur, was arrested August 15 morning from Old Delhi Railway Station

The accused, identified as Lal Bahadur, was arrested August 15 morning from Old Delhi Railway Station from where he was about to board a Bihar-bound train to flee the city.

The victim’s mother alleged that Bahadur, her neighbour, had taken her daughter to his room on August 12 saying that he wanted to play with her.

“He brought back the baby after she started crying. She continued crying till night. When her mother noticed unusual bruises near her private part, she got suspicious and reported the matter to the police. The victim was sent to AIIMS for a medical examination which found she had been sexually assaulted,” said a police officer.
