Dhoni is India’s greatest captain ever

Votes: 24105

MSD today broke Sourav Ganguly’s record for the most number of wins as the Indian captain. But does this make him the greatest ever captain?
Defending the motion

iAgree

Sachin Tendulkar once said that Dhoni united the India dressing room like no other captain before him -- including Dada. So there are things that Dhoni has done other than just winning -- he has given players from smaller towns the belief that anything is possible. And that counts for a lot too. Winning matters but Dhoni has always been in the background letting his team-mates take the credit. He is the best skipper India has had -- he has his off-days but as the numbers indicate -- he's had some pretty good ones too.

Ganguly took over when India had been rocked by match-fixing and needed a strong leader to unite the team. He gave the team the belief that they should never back down from anyone and did so by leadin g from the front. And he would go to any lengths to back his team. That’s why it is no surprise that Kolkata 2001, India's finest moment, came with Ganguly at the helm. He would just never allow the team to give up. And he won Tests in England and Australia too.
