Monsoon bonanza: Air India offers tickets starting Rs 1,777 for domestic travel

New Delhi: National carrier Air India today rolled out a limited period sale, offering all-inclusive fares as low as Rs 1,777 for travel on its domestic network, days after private airlines lowered their post-peak season ticket prices. Tickets bought against the Monsoon Sale will be valid for travel from 1 July to 30 September, it added. Private carriers including Jet Airways, SpiceJet, IndiGo, AirAsia India had announced similar low-fare offers last week. The July-September and January-March quarters are considered lean season as against the rest two quarters in terms of travel demand. Last month, Jet Airways had put 10 lakh (one million) seats on a four-day sale at a flat discount of 25 percent. The offer was valid for economy class travel on the airline’s domestic network. Travel under that offer was permitted valid from 15 June 2015 to 15 October 2015. In May itself, SpiceJet did two such sale offers, to mark its 10th anniversary. IndiGo is also offering discounted tickets, while Vistara is doing so on 90-day advance purchase fares. With PTI input
