KFA pilots threaten to go on strike again from today

Sep 10, 2012

Pilots of cash-strapped Kingfisher Airlines, which has been operating a skeletal schedule, have threatened to go on strike from today as part of mass agitation for immediate disbursal of salaries.

A section of the engineers of the Vijay Mallya promoted airline is not reporting to duty since Wednesday over non-payment of monthly dues since March.

“All Kingfisher Airlines pilots have threatened to strike work from tomorrow over non-payment of salaries since March,” a source among the pilots told PTI.

It would be for the first time that pilots from both Delhi and Mumbai will be striking work if they decide to go ahead with the threat as so far only a section has resorted to strike.

Kingfisher Airlines spokesperson was not available for comment.

The airline, which is facing severe fund crunch for over a year now, has witnessed labour unrest at regular intervals in the last six months with one section of employees or the other resorting to agitation for release of salaries.

So far, the airline management has managed to prevent a mass agitation by paying salaries to select sections of people.

“Enough is enough. The management can no longer play the divide and rule policy to serve its purpose. All the pilots are now united on the issue and have taken this decision (to strike work starting tomorrow),” one of them said.
