ED summons Vodafone chairman over Netherlands deal

The Enforcement Directorate summoned  Vodafone Chairman Analjit Singh on Wednesday.

It had earlier sent summons for him on 17 August.

Sources told CNBC TV-18 that summons under PMLA and FEMA have been issued for 31 August.

The sources told CNBC TV-18 on Wednesday that the Enforcement Directorate seeks seven different kinds of documents & information.

The ED wants information of companies where Analjit Singh has been director since 2002 and details of his overseas remittances since 2005.

The ED also seeks information on Vodafone India’s shareholders since 2007, sources said. according to CNBC TV-18.

The ED asked for information on all  direct and indirect foreign shareholders and a copy of Vodafone’s FIPB application & approval, the sources said.

It wanted proof and information on the agreement with Vodafone and Netherlands.

Vodafone declined to comment on the development, CNBC TV-18 reported.
