Only coal blocks to be put on auction are explored, sources in the coal ministry said today.

Out of 54 identified coal blocks, only eight are explored, sources in the ministry familiar with the matter told CNBC-TV18.
The sources said that one block is under tariff-based bids while the remaining seven is for auction.
The blocks are earmarked for cement, steel, sponge iron and gasification, the sources told CNBC-TV18.
