West Bengal is turning out to be a nightmarish destination for industrial houses with private cargo handler ABG Haldia Bulk Terminals today pulling out of the state citing lack of security after company officials were recently abducted.
Three company officials—Manpreet Jolly, Jagadish Behara and Bushan Patil, including his wife and 1-year-old daughter—were abducted at 1 am today by about 50 unidentified persons and later released after being “threatened at gun point” to stay away from Haldia, a Business Standard report said.

Following the abduction, the company informed the Calcutta High Court and Kolkata Port Trust of its decision to quit the state.
The company had also paid Rs 17,45,730 to the police for keeping the company officials safe.
Based on a petition by ABG Haldia Bulk Terminals, the Calcutta High Court had on 19 October directed the state government to ensure safety of the people and plant, the Business Standard report said.
