Wow! Ek Tha Tiger earned Rs 50 crore in two days?

by Aug 17, 2012

Salman Khan is the undisputed king of box office this Eid. His latest film Ek Tha Tiger that released on 15 August had reportedly grossed a business of Rs 33 crore on the opening day.

Although Ek Tha Tiger received mixed reactions from the critics,  it had a historic opening at the box office and in all likelihood will do excellent business over the long weekend to come. It has already beaten the record of Agneepath that accumulated a whooping Rs 25 crore on its first day. But with the way Ek Tha Tiger is accumulating money, perhaps it is the first of the many records it will break in future.

On the day Ek Tha Tiger released, Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted “#EkThaTiger Wed biz still being compiled. Yashraj still getting data. So one can only estimate. Anywhere between 32 to 35 cr nett. Ab bolo!(sic), and added, “To state that #EkThaTiger has created History would be wrong. Wed figures are BEYOND HISTORIC(sic).”

According to Koimoi.com , since day 2 of Ek Tha Tiger‘s box office outing was a working day, it made lesser than the first day but still made approximately 16 crores, which brings its total earnings around the range of 48.92 crores.

With such an amazing opening, Ek Tha Tiger is likely to join the 100 crore club soon. The movie however is expensive and was made on a budget of Rs 50 crore.  It is a  Yash Raj Films production  starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kiaf. Directed by Kabir Khan,  the movie tells the love story of the spy.
