Who is Laila Khan?

by Jul 5, 2012

Laila Khan, a Pakistan born actress, best known for her role opposite Rajesh Khanna in the 2008 Bollywood movie Wafa: A Deadly Love Story has reportedly been killed along with her family in a forested area around 150 km out of Mumbai.

Laila came under media spotlight when her car, which was linked to the Delhi High Court blast, was discovered in Dal Lake last December. But, things started getting convoluted each passing day.

A year ago, the Bollywood actress went missing. Later, police found that besides Laila, her six other family members, including her mother Shelina Patel, elder sister Hazmina, twin siblings Zara and Imran,  stepfather Asif Sheikh and family friend Parvez Iqbal Tak went missing too.

However, Laila was soon discovered to be alive, staying in Dubai on a fake passport. This was revealed by one of her friends who was arrested recently by the Mumbai Police. Police also said that Laila had a Dawood Ibrahim link.

Like Monica Bedi, who also disappeared from Bollywood after falling in love with gangster Abu Salem, a close associate of Dawood Ibrahim, Laila married Munir Khan, a member of the Bangladeshi terror outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami.

Later she married her friend Parvez Tak. Tak, a suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba member, is suspected of being behind Laila and her family’s disappearance.

Tak, the main suspect in the case, admitted that Laila, her family and a friend were killed in February 2011 in Maharashtra. Tak is currently in the custody of Jammu and Kashmir Police in connection with another case.

Police will now travel to the area where Laila is said to have been killed in an effort to establish the veracity of Tak’s claims. Tak is claiming that he had nothing to do with the murder, although police say that they are not inclined to giving him a clean chit.
