He’s back — albeit a little worse for the wear.
The trailer for season two of Anil Kapoor’s 24 was launched amid much fanfare on Wednesday night, and there’s been plenty of analysis over just what it has in store for our ACP Jai Singh Rathod.
From our quick perusal of the trailer, this is the basic plot that we see unfolding over season two:
Roshan Sherchan (Ashish Vidyarthi) may have been put behind bars by Rathod, and is currently facing his execution by the Indian government. However, that may be easier said than accomplished. For Sherchan’s younger brother Haroon (Sikander Kher) is on a mission to free Roshan, and will go to any length to do so — including holding an entire city, and then country, hostage to a deadly virus. Unless his brother is freed, says Haroon, he will unleash the biohazard on the unsuspecting populace.
Cue frenetic investigations by Rathod — who’s had a stint in rehab, and is unable to get over the death of his wife (Tisca Chopra) from the previous season. There is also other trouble on the family front for our man: His daughter (Sapna Pabbi) is being understanding, his son — who suspects that Rathod has moved on to another woman (as indeed it seems he has) — is uncommunicative and distant. In the meantime, he’s busy matching wits with the Sherchan brothers — junior and senior. All this, while time is running out on the clock. Whew!
The visuals look arresting enough, but we’re not entirely sure about that stodgy, overly dramatic voiceover for the trailer. It could have been done so much better.
Anyway, we’ll stop with the reportage and seek out your comments instead. What did you think about the 24 season two trailer? Be sure to let us know.
