'Udta Punjab', 'Great Grand Masti' online leaks not from our side, says CBFC CEO

After big ticket films like Udta Punjab and Great Grand Masti were leaked online before their official release in theatres, Anurag Shrivastava, CEO, Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC), has clarified that the leaks have not occurred from their side.

Speaking on how the prints had "Censor copy" written on it, he told ANI, "The word censor copy is written by the producer only. It is from their side, we don't do anything like that from our side. In fact, it is not even necessary to be written, but because it's been a convention they have always been mentioning it."

Last month, Udta Punjab was leaked online two days before the films release with 'Censor Copy' written on it. Earlier this week Great Grand Masti was leaked online much prior to its release.

Sultan, Salman Khan's Eid release, also faced a similar fate when it was released online a few hours before its theatrical release.

On Thursday, the Crime branch arrested nine persons in relation to the leak of 'Great Grand Masti' and they have been charged with six cases under the Copyright Act, reports DNA.

Meanwhile the release of the film has been advanced by a week — it will now be released on 15 July instead of 22 July.
