Suraj Pancholi admits to beating Jiah Khan, family says they received threats

In another disturbing turn in the Jiah Khan case, Suraj Pancholi has reportedly admitted that he had beaten the actor up about eight months back while they were holidaying in Goa. According to an Indian Express report, Suraj has told police that following that fight, Jiah had slit her wrist in an attempt to commit suicide. Actor Aditya Pancholi’s 22-year-old son has also confessed to having been in a live-in relationship with Jiah. [caption id=“attachment_867873” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  Jiah Khan. AFP.[/caption] IE adds that the police are now contemplating slapping an additional charge under Section 498-A (harassment of a woman by husband or in-laws) of IPC on Suraj. Hindustan Times quotes Cherring Dorjee, zonal deputy commissioner of police as saying:

“Suraj has confessed to a year-long a live-in relationship with Jiah. They did not live together per se, but used to frequent each other’s homes,” said Cherring Dorjee, zonal deputy commissioner of police.

Meanwhile, the police have gotten in touch with the doctor who had supervised the abortion Jiah underwent. Conflicting reports suggest that Jiah either took medication or underwent a surgery to carry out the abortion- a fact that the police is still trying to verify by talking to the doctor. Jiah’s mother Rabiya Khan alleged that she was under ‘pressure’ from Bollywood to withdraw the case against Suraj. Indian Express  quotes Rabiya as saying:

Meanwhile, Jiah’s family members claimed that they were getting calls from the film fraternity telling them to withdraw their case. Jiah’s mother Rabiya, 59, told Newsline that she would not buckle under pressure. “I will inform police about these threats,” she said.
