Magik is back.
That's the message the teaser of Rock On 2 conveys.
Several years after we saw the grunge rock band on screen, the sequel brings us up to speed. For some reason, Magik — comprising Aditya (Farhan Akhtar), Joseph (Arjun Rampal), KD (Purab Kohli) — hasn't performed for a while.
But they're finally reuniting for a gig. To replace their former buddy and keyboardist Rob (Luke Kenny) who is shown to have succumbed to a brain tumour in the original, they've brought in a new musician — played by Shraddha Kapoor.
What Kapoor's character is keeping hidden, however, is that she is not just good with the keyboard, she is also a powerhouse singer — albeit one who is afraid to show her talent to the world.
However, Aditya does manage to convince her to showcase her voice with Magik.
Unlike other film's trailers/teasers, the Rock On 2 teaser doesn't give much away. There's a montage of quickly cut scenes that give an impression of a grand gig, a fire, and lots of (in)fighting.
So what's the conflict the members of Magik are facing up to this time?
On the full-length trailer will tell.
One thing that the teaser does reveal, courtesy its use of the iconic Rock On title track — albeit with several new elements added — is that this sequel too will be an upgraded version of the original.
But will this Shujaat Saudagar sequel match up to the original by Abhishek Kapoor?
Watch the teaser here, and tell us what you think.
