It’s been a while since Ranbir Kapoor charmed audiences with his on screen histrionics, his last release being Rockstar back in November 2011, which saw him at his very best in a flawless performance.

Ranbir’s next release is the highly anticipated Barfi on 31 August this year, directed by Anurag Basu which sees the actor play a deaf character. He has been filming for the role in the scorching heat of Mumbai sans his costar Priyanka Chopra who is currently in Los Angeles.

The actor was on a 9am to 9pm shift, dressed in the garb of a tea estate hand, filming a sequence in what appeared to be a set recreation of Darjeeling in Chandivali Studios in the city.

Ranbir, who had given up smoking earlier, went back to lighting up on the set in between his shots.

Barfi is the second film Ranbir and Priyanka are working on together after the dismal Anjaana Anjaani.

Till Barfi hits the screens, the audience has to make do with Ranbir peddling Tata Docomo phones in an almost unrecognisable avatar, that of a miserly old man, which is also one of his looks in Barfi.

Given that his performance in Rockstar consolidated his position as the next superstar in the making on Bollywood’s terra firma, his work in Barfi looks like it will only add to his acting repertoire.
