Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane's next venture Trapped starring Rajkummar Rao is all set to have its world premiere at the upcoming Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival.
"I'm ecstatic, and absolutely petrified, to be premiering my film at MAMI. It is a film based in Mumbai and it's apt that its world premiere be here, in the presence of my hometown audience and at a festival I absolutely adore," Motwane said in a statement to Huffington Post, India.
The film festival website gives us an idea of the plot:
A man gets stuck in an empty high rise without food, water or electricity. The film chronicles his struggle to survive and overcome this extraordinary situation he’s dealing with.
The film will be screened as part of the new section 'Spotlight' to celebrate the diversity of the Indian cinema.
'Spotlight' is a segment of films that recognises Indian cinema's historical trajectories, celebrates its creative impulses and explores its futures.
Motwane's earlier films Udaan (2010) and Lootera (2013) did very well when they were showcased in festivals. Currently, he is also working on a vigilante drama titled Bhavesh Joshi, featuring Harshvardhan Kapoor in the lead.
