Anne Hathaway's bagged the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Oscars 2013 for her role in Les Miserables but the actress' victory hasn't helped silence the 'Hathhaters', or critics who have serious problems with the actress and aren't afraid to shout it loud on social media.
This is Hathaway's first Oscar win for playing the role of hapless Fantine in Tom Hooper's musical. However, despite the fact that Hathaway has clean swept the best supporting actress awards at several prestigious ceremonies, including the Golden Globes, the actress has in recent times not only generated a huge army of fans but also many haters.
The Daily Beast reports that she is roundly criticised by the 'haters' who often cannot go beyond her personality, although they acknowledge she can act.
These group, mainly from the blogosphere and social media, often vent their anger against the actress for no particular reason on public platforms, often labeling her as being be 'pretentious.'
After Hathaway's awkward Princess act became passe and she gained critical acclaim and an Oscars nomination for Rachel Getting Married, she began making more public appearances like hosting SNL , appearing on several television shows, and also stormed the Oscar stage. But with each appearance as Hathway increased her fan following, the number of people who chose to use the online sphere to criticise her spiked as well.
However, with today's win, Hathaway has finally proved that whether you hate her or love her, you can't possibly ignore her. Microblogging site, Twitter, is still abuzz with very polarised reactions on Hathaway's win.
I get it, you hated someone in high school who Anne Hathaway reminds you of.

Look, I don't hate Hathaway, but the breathy baby voice is a good look on absolutely no one. #Oscars2013

The Onion has done an entire spoof on the baseless hatred of Anne Hathaway. Actress Anne Hathaway admitted to reporters on Thursday that she feels the same baseless hatred for a Massachusetts woman that the woman feels toward her.
"You can tell Cathy Lerro's totally in love with herself, even though she's really just fucking annoying," Hathaway said in reference to the 36-year-old Sudbury resident, who the Devil Wears Prada star grudgingly acknowledged was decent that one time as an office manager but hasn't done anything nearly that good since.
