Mamta Kulkarni is not someone you forget easily. It might have been close to two decades since she was seen in any films, but she still knows how to grab headlines.
The latest in the string of headlines dedicated to her, is the news that she has married her paramour of 25 years, a drug dealer who goes by the name Vicky Goswami.
The Times of India reports that Goswami was sentenced for life in Saudi Arabia for drug trafficking. However, he was released before the completion of his term for 'his model conduct'. Goswami had reportedly converted to Islam and then married Mamta who managed his real estate business, including one luxury hotel in Dubai while he was behind bars.
Probably, trying to underline the fact the Mamta in real life, is nothing like the controversial, brazen Bollywood star she was, TOI helpfully comments: "Sources close to the couple say, Vicky is now in Nairobi, with his faithful wife by his side."
TOI also reports that Mamta had refused to do stage shows and her friends told show organisers it was because that she is married.
Though the opposition lawyers strongly opposed his (Vicky's) clemency saying that he was an international criminal, the court pardoned him on grounds that he was a reformed criminal and a devout Muslim. The court also ordered that he be deported to his native country in India. Sources claim Vicky arrived in India during December 2012 and left for Kenya soon after. Since he did not have any specific criminal cases pending against him in India, it was easier for him to fly to Kenya.
Kulkarni was famous for the brazen portrayal of sexuality on screen and announcing that she was the first Indian actress to have posed topless for a film magazine.
