With each trailer, Ang Lee’s epic adventure film Life of Pi is raising expectations. The second trailer of the film is out, just before its premiere at New York Film Festival on Friday, and the film promises to be a visual treat.
Through a montage of scenes accompanied by the soulful music of Sigur Ros, the trailer begins with a grown up Pi Patel (played by Irrfan Khan) narrating the story of his life. We then see a young Pi, who is about to move with his family and his ‘zoo’ ‘half way around the world’ and speaks of leaving behind a land he loves, a life he cherishes and ties that he values.
But these turn out be the least of his worries as one fateful night during the journey, a storm at sea takes away all that he has and the only thing that he is left is a lifeboat in the middle of the ocean with a vicious Royal Bengal tiger for company.
The trailer then shows Pi imbibing and devising several survival strategies to stay alive, to the beats of Coldplay’s Paradise.
The movie definitely seems worth a 3D experience with the larger-than-life portrayal of adventurous and almost magical journey of Pi seems overwhelming.
Indian actors like Irrfan Khan and Tabu also make an appearance in this trailer, making it a little more interesting for our audiences.
Judging by this new trailer, the film raises hopes of it living up to the popular Man Booker prize winning book by Yann Martel. The movie releases on November 23, 2012 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
