Katrina Kaif to sing for AR Rahman in Yash Chopra’s next film?

by Aug 2, 2012

First Priyanka, then Chitrangada and now Katrina Kaif, it seems many Bollywood actress are trying to become the Suraiyas of the new era by juggling singing and acting simultaneously.

Well, since Priyanka Chopra made headlines with the announcement of her music album, why should Katrina Kaif stay behind? The beautiful actress not only has some big banner movies coming up, but has also reportedly taken the initiative to sing for some of them.

Katrina Kaif will next be seen in EK Tha Tiger.

Times of India reported that Katrina is going to sing a romantic song penned by Gulzar and composed by AR Rahman for Yash Chopra’s unnamed directorial comeback venture. She is also lending her voice to a track in Yash Raj’s Dhoom 3.

A source claimed that Katrina had always been fond of singing but had shied away when actor-singer Ali Zafar first asked her to sing for his music album.

Later she agreed to sing one track in the Dhoom 3 album.

But now, with this latest deal, Katrina has literally bitten the bullet, in agreeing to sing for Rahman. A source told Times of India  ”No half-measures for Katrina these days. She had earlier decided to sing for Yash Raj’s Dhoom 3 with about a week of rehearsals thrown in. But now, she has grown more ambitious and wants to try out a more complex singing challenge that the other film directed by Yash Chopra has thrown at her.”

Katrina reportedly bonded with Rahman last year when she recited poems for a charity album composed by the musician. She is more likely to record for Chopra’s film before Dhoom 3 depending on her preparation.
