Kapil Sharma row: Criminal petition filed against comic; shoot of TV show on hold

The din over Kapil Sharma's 'ye hain aapke achhe din?' tweet refuses to die down.

After his tweet alleging corruption among civic officials boomeranged on the popular comedian, he has been dealing with a host of repercussions:

Kapil Sharma, called the 'clown prince of comedy' has found himself in a decidedly un-funny situation

This week, Firstpost reported that two police complaints had been filed against Kapil Sharma — one by a BMC engineer under the MRTP Act for illegal constructions at his Goregaon apartment (which he reportedly may no longer be the owner of) and a second, by a party member of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, accusing Kapil of dereliction of his duty as a citizen of India, in not revealing the names of the civic officials who allegedly sought the bribe from him to give him the requisite permissions to build his office space:

Now, yet another criminal petition has been filed against Kapil, this time by an activist called Santosh Daundkar. Daundkar lodged the petition against the comedian at the metropolitan court in Andheri, for the destruction of mangroves while making unauthorised alterations at his Versova bungalow, The Indian Express reported.

That isn't all. It seems Kapil has stalled the shoot of his popular TV show until these issues are sorted.

Entertainment portal SpotBoye reported that Nargis Fakhri and Riteish Deshmukh were expected to visit The Kapil Sharma Show sets to promote their film Banjo. However, the shot was cancelled and the actors'promotional appearance postponed. The sets are seemingly deserted at the moment and Kapil will only resume the shoot once his legal woes come to an end — or at least stabilise.
