Comedian Kapil Sharma tweeted to Prime minister Narendra Modi last month, asking 'Yeh hain aapke achhe din?' after he was allegedly asked for a bribe of Rs 5 lakhs by civic officials to regularise the construction of his office space in Mumbai.

He asked why, as a citizen who paid a substantial amount of tax to the government, he still had to jump hrough so many hops to get his work done.

Even as Sharma was lauded by many for exposing corruption in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, or the BMC, his tweet boomeranged on him.

At first slow to respond to the controversy, the BMC finally spoke out against the comedian, stating that he had carried out illegal constructions at his Andheri/Versova bungalow, destroying mangroves in the process, and made unauthorised additions to his flat in a high-rise at Oshiwara as well.

Sharma soon found himself in a sea of trouble — not only were cases brought against him for the illegal constructions at his flat and bungalow, he was also presented with a bill for the demolitions of the unauthorised structures he had built at his Versova property.

However, in recent developments, it seems Sharma has approached the Bombay High Court for relief from his current legal distress.

While confirmation from other news sources is still awaited, India Today reported:

At this point, it is not clear if Sharma is seeking for the cases against him to be dismissed, or for halting the BMC's razing of additions to his property, although the updates coming in seem to indicate the latter:
