Kangana Ranaut heads to Germany; trains in horse-riding for Rani Lakshmibai

Haven’t we all been amazed by Kangana Ranaut’s performances in Fashion, Queen and Tanu Weds Manu? That is because she has lived every character to the fullest. While we assume that Ranaut stays comfortable in the skin of every character that she signs up for, the fact is that a lot of preparation, acclimatisation, research and rehearsals go behind every role.

Her modus operandi in Ketan Mehta’s Rani Lakshmibai is no different. History bears testimony to the fact that the Jhansi ki rani was well-versed with horse riding and sword fighting. Ranaut will be learning both of these techniques to stay true to her essaying of the titular character.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the actress will be heading to Germany to learn horse riding in Bavaria and the Rhyne Valley, two locations renowned for horse riding staycations. The report also adds that she will be staying in a stable to expose herself to the conditions that horses live in. In the process, she will also learn about the various breeds of horses, their diets, grooming techniques, how to manage minor injuries using first-aid along with the other nitty-gritties.

The same report suggests that she is currently shooting for Hansal Mehta’s Simran in the USA. After wrapping up her shooting schedule in America, she will head back to India to join Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor in the promotions of Vishal Bharadwaj’s Rangoon.

After fulfilling both these commitments, she will take a crash course in horse riding in Germany to prep for her character in the period biopic. She will also learn sword fighting before she starts shooting for the large-scale project.

Rani Lakshmibai is Ketan Mehta’s long-awaited project and his fourth biopic after Sardar, Managal Pandey: The Rising and Manjhi: The Mountain Man based on the lives of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Mangal Pandey and Dashrath Manjhi respectively.

This is the first time Mehta is collaborating with Ranaut. Given her acting accolades and dedication towards method acting, she is sure not to disappoint the National Award-winning filmmaker.
