“My passion for bikes began at a quite young age. Although I don’t have the time to ride a motorcycle now, I still need these monsters around me to keep me going,” Abraham said after the inauguration.

Seven-times world champion rally driver Hannu Mikkola was also present at the event. Mikkola debuted on the rally scene in 1963 and in a professional career that spanned three decades was inducted in the World Rally Championship Hall Of Fame in 2011.

The show displayed various models of most brands including Skoda, Audi, Toyota, Volvo, Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra Auto, Mahindra two-wheelers, Nissan, Premier, Hyundai, Honda Cars, Renault, General Motors India, Yamaha, Hyosung, Bajaj Auto, BMW Bikes and Cars and Ford amongst others.

Diverse players from the industry also displayed accessories which are used in the automobile sector, from a variety of tyres, to the display of cars used in the racing circuit.

Vintage cars were also on display at the event depicting style, fashion and pride of those who were fortunate enough to own cars that have stood the test of times.

“MIMS 2013 being the biggest motor show in the region is for those who like cars and bikes, take part in some off road action or just wish to soak in some automotive aura,” said Adil Jal Darukhanawala, chief spokesperson of MIMS.
