It’s official: Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif in Dhoom:3

by Sep 23, 2011

After intense speculation in the media and a hell lot of vying for the coveted role by every leading Bollywood actress in Yash Raj Films’ third Dhoom film, Katrina Kaif is the chosen one alongside Aamir Khan.

The director, Vijay Krishna Acharya (Victor), and producer Aditya Chopra chose Kaif after a lot of thought. Her thorough and endearing performance in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (MBKD) could have helped her get the role. “After almost a year of looking for a new face for Dhoom:3, we were unable to find the perfect debutant to play the leading role. We even looked out for international talent, but didn’t find anyone who stood out. Both Adi and I really wanted to be sure that the person we chose would be perfect for the role. Once we decided to go with a known face and not pursue the newcomer route, Katrina Kaif was the obvious choice for all of us. She is someone who will bring tremendous enthusiasm and commitment to the film. The first time pairing of Aamir Khan with Katrina will also certainly add value to the film,” said Victor.

Katrina is racing into a superstar space of her own and working with Aamir is only going to add to her credentials as an actor. MBKD finally put her acting skills in focus and proved she can act alongside her singing and dancing glam-doll acts.

Dhoom:3 is written and directed by Victor, who had also written Dhoom and Dhoom 2. Aamir plays the antagonist in the franchise and both Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will reprise their in roles of Jai Dixit and Ali respectively. The film starts shooting at the end of this year and is looking at a 2012 Christmas release.
