Is Diana Penty the new Bollywood ‘it’ girl?

Jul 10, 2012

Bollywood see this every year. A beautiful model making her debut and then going back to oblivion. But it is only once in a while that B-town is mesmerized by the grace and oomph of a newbie who promises to be the next big thing. Last year it was Nargis Fakri, this year it seems to be the Cocktail girl Diana Penty.

Diana, who appears as the shy and pretty Meera in the promos of Cocktail has already captured the hearts of many. Her facebook page has 39,649 likes and she is all set to make her mark in Bollywood. She does get her Hindi dialogues correct in the promos, which is a big hindrance these days  for many actresses who are trying to make it big.

This stunner who has been on the cover of various international magazines like Verve, Elle, Cosmopolitan and more recently Vogue have also walked the ramp in New York Fashion Week and Paris.  She has worked for veteran Italian designers Trussadi and Ferre and Indian fashion A-listers like Rina Dhaka, Rohit Bal and Wendell Rodricks.

Soon to make her debut in a film that stars Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, she has already replaced the latter as the brand ambassador of Maybelline.

Diana has also appeared on various TV commercials including one with Ranbir Kapoor for virgin mobile. Initially slated to debut opposite Ranbir in  Rockstar, Penty’s debut film, Cocktail will hit the theatres on 13 July, which will determine if Diana has it in her to be the ‘it’ girl of B-town.
