Kamal Haasan flew into Mumbai on Thursday afternoon and was in a reflective and visibly disturbed mood as he addressed the media at the PVR multiplex in Juhu, Mumbai, minutes before the press screening of his film Vishwaroopam, also dubbed in Hindi as Vishwaroop. He thanked everybody from Javed Akhtar and Salman Khan to Anupam Kher and Madhur Bhandarkar for expressing support to Vishwaroopam and condemning the ban on his film in Tamil Nadu. He termed himself and the likes of Javed Akhtar in the industry as 'rationalists'. "A person like Javed, even if he had not been a part of my film, would come out in support of it. That is the kind of person he is, that is what people should be like." He also thanked his family and the entire film fraternity for rallying behind him. "At times I don't watch so many films or don't bother to congratulate these people in person. I can't express in words how grateful I am to have them support me," he added. In an emotional address to the media he explained how misinformation about the film has turned people against him and how our country shouldn't insult artistes because it is they who represent India before politicians do.
