Well-known Carnatic vocalist and playback singer Bombay Jayashree, who has been nominated for the Oscar Awards this year, met with the media in Chennai on Friday to promote a series of fund-raiser concerts of Sankalp, a special school for children with disabilities. Since her Oscar nomination yesterday, the local media - radio, TV and print - are celebrating the triumph of their city. In all her interviews since yesterday, she said working with "Life of Pi" composer Mychael Danna and director Ang Lee, has been a great learning experience. Mychael, she said, knew exactly what he wanted from Pi's Lullaby, that has won her the nomination. She also said that both the director and composer spoke to her after the nomination and she was looking forward to the Oscar night, although she doesn't really know what it really entails. Here are images taken just after her Oscar nomination, and some images of her earlier performance.
