If PK was cleared, why not MSG? VHP accuses Leela Samson of 'playing politics'

New Delhi: Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) today accused former censor board chief Leela Samson of playing politics. The Hindutva outfit questioned why she was “not moved” when two board members resigned protesting Aamir Khan-starrer PK being passed without cuts. They had reportedly said that the film might Hindu feelings. It also urged the government to remove “political” persons appointed by Congress on various posts on a “purpose” and replace them with nationalists. IBNLive[/caption] “The way censor board members have resigned, it seems they are playing politics. All these members are those people appointed during Congress rule. It seems that they are working on their agenda. “It is our appeal to the government that all such political persons who have been appointed by Congress for a specific purpose should be removed and right nationalist people should be installed instead,” VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain said. Questioning Samson for her concerns over the film “Messenger of God” featuring Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, he said, “If they are so sensitive, then why were they silent when two members resigned saying PK film may hurt feelings of Hindus. Why was Leela Samson not moved on their concerns? What has happened suddenly. I think she should come forward to clarify.” He said though he has not seen ‘Messenger of God’, he has received information that there is nothing objectionable in it, adding the makers of the film are also ready for making amendments if it hurts anyone’s feelings. The film has been at the centre of a controversy with all members of CBFC besides Samson resigning over the issue of granting certification to it by the tribunal over-ruling the Board. PTI
