Remember Coldplay's super-sneaky trip to Mumbai back in September?
All we knew then was that the popular British band was in town and shooting for a Indian festive-themed music video. We saw Chris Martin and the gang splashing colour along with a group of children in whatever covertly captured photos on social media.
But now we know that the city and the Holi colours is not the only Indian connection Coldplay's newest video will have. The music video will feature Bollywood's very own Sonam Kapoor. And if that doesn't excite you enough - how about this, she will be sharing screen space with none other than pop diva Beyonce.
The video will be directed by Ben Mor and filmed extensively at temples and forts across Mumbai. "Sonam shot for a day last October at the Golfa Devi Temple in Worli and the Vasai fort," a source was quoted saying in Mumbai Mirror.
Sonam is understandably excited to be part of this venture. Well, who wouldn't!
“I love Coldplay’s music and so does the world. It was a huge honour to be a part of the video. It’s a great concept and I had a lot of fun shooting for it,” she told Mumbai Mirror.
Speaking of concept, the fashionista is supposedly essaying the role of a 'mystical muse'. In keeping with the theme of Indian culture, she will be dressed in a desi style, 'in a ghagra choli and wearing the traditional mang tika and a nose ring', continues the report. Will we see more of her royal look from Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Knowing her penchant for couture, we are sure looking forward to Sonam's avatar alongside Beyonce.
With this international outing, Sonam joins an ever growing list of Indian celebs making their name in the Western entertainment industry. From Priyanka Chopra in Quantico to Deepika Padukone in XXX: The Return of Xander Cage and now even Dhanush is all set to make his Hollywood debut alongside Uma Thurman.
The upcoming music video is titled "Hymn for The Weekend" and it is their second single from seventh album A Head Full of Dreams.
