Indian cinema has largely stayed away from zombies. Sure they've made some appearances in a couple of Ramsay brothers films, but we haven't had any big budget zombie films, and definitely none which starred any well known stars.
However, the makers of Go Goa Gone are hoping to change that with dollops of action, blood dripping zombies and a blonde Saif Ali Khan saving three clueless guys caught in Goa when the zombie apocalypse hits our country.
The film, helmed by two directors and produced by Khan's production house (that earlier produced romances like Cocktail and Love Aaj Kal) seems to be a comedy, more on the lines of Shaun of the Dead than Land of the Living Dead, and if the new trailer is to be believed, it might just tickle our funny bones.
Kunal Khemu and Vir Das play two friends who are confronted by various woes that their lives throw at them. They decide to take a break and join a friend (Anand Tiwari) to make the journey to India's party capital, Goa. There are parties and women galore, until the zombies turn up.
Not being the kind that know how to deal with zombies, the trio shriek, freak out and seem all set to be gored by zombies until Khan makes a dramatic entrance with a Russian accent.
In keeping with the tradition of zombie films, a lot of the undead meet their end in various ways with Khan throwing knives, blowing their heads off and running them over as he ferries the three others to safety.
The film is slated for a 10 May release. Be surprised if it is rated anything but 'A' by the censors.
