Bollywood actor Fawad Khan seems to have left the country following threats from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) to all Pakistani artistes, to leave India by 25 September.
A report in The Times of India suggests that the actor flew to Pakistan after the MNS began issuing threats to beat up Pakistani artistes.
In light of the Uri attack that killed 18 soldiers last week, the MNS issued a 48-hour deadline on Friday to Pakistani artistes to leave the country after which "they would be pushed out".
Mumbai Police joint commissioner, Deven Bharti had assured complete protection for these artistes saying, "All foreign nationals, who are in Mumbai on valid documents provided by Government of India, need not worry. We will provide adequate protection as and when required."
But looks like fear has still not abated among the actors.
On Tuesday, MNS also conducted a protest outside director-producer Karan Johar's house for casting Fawad Khan in his film.
However The Indian Express reports that Khan has been in Pakistan for a while now to be with his wife, who is expecting their second child. The actor will not be returning in time to promote his upcoming film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
