Ek Tha Tiger crosses Rs 150 cr, will it beat 3 Idiots?

by Aug 23, 2012

Salman Khan is the roaring tiger at box office this year. His latest film Ek Tha Tiger that released on 15 August has reportedly earned Rs 150 crore in just eight days.

Although the movie received mixed reactions from the critics, it had a historic opening at the box office by grossing Rs 33 crore on the opening day itself. In the next 7 days, which also included the long Eid weekend, it had a very successful run at the box office. According to some trade analysts it has already managed to cross the Rs 150 crore mark.

Taran Adarsh also wrote on his Twitter account today, “As you read this, #EkThaTiger has *crossed* 150 cr nett in India *today*. Now the 2nd biggest grosser of Hindi cinema, after #3Idiots.”

According to trade analyst Komal Nahta’s tweet, “ETT Day 8:Rs.10.45 crore.Total Rs.147.6 crore.Lifetime collection of Dabangg(142 crore) and Bodyguard(146 crore) surpassed in 8 days.Great!”

Last year when Salman’s Bodyguard released to packed theatres it was predicted that it would break the record of Aamir’s 3 idiots, however it didn’t. But given Ek Tha Tiger‘s roaring success at the box office, this time perhaps, it would be a different story.
