He's considered among the finest actors in Kollywood, but Dhanush has now turned to direction with Power Paandi.
Veteran actor Rajkiran will play the lead, while Dhanush has roped in Nadiya Moidu, Prasanna and Chaya Singh (Dhanush’s Thiruda Thirudi heroine) in supporting roles. While Dhanush has written the film's script, and is producing it under his Wunderbar banner, the music has been composed by Sean Rolden (of Joker and Mundasupatti fame).
Dhanush's announcement of taking up direction seems to have taken the industry by surprise. However, the Raanjhana actor had maintained even early in his career that his dream was to follow in the footsteps of his father filmmaker Kasthuri Raja, and his brother, the noted director Selvaraghavan. There have also been persistent rumours that Dhanush has ‘ghost directed’ a few of his recent films.
The puja launch of the film took place on Wednesday, 7 September.
Selvaraghavan took to Twitter to wish Dhanush:

Dhanush replied, saying, “Thank you Selva. You started it all with your teachings and blessings.”
Dhanush has been an actor, lyricist, singer, producer and now, a director in the span of his career.
Dhanush is the sixth member of his family to direct films: his father Kasthuri Raja has done 18 films as a director, from the late 1980s onwards; Dhanush's brother Selvaraghavan has directed eight films, sisters-in-law Geetanjali Selvaraghavan and Soundarya Rajinikanth have made Malai Nerathu Mayakkam and Kochadaiyaan, respectively; while his wife Aishwarya Dhanush has directed 3 and Vai Raja Vai .
