Dear Sr Bachchan, what’s with the random trivia on Twitter?

by Jul 25, 2012

Yes, ofcourse the tweeple know how active superstar Amitabh Bachchan is on cyberspace. Be it anything, from the Colorado shootings, Rajesh Khanna’s death or a campaign to ‘save the Tigers’, chances are that even if prime time television misses an issue Big B won’t! And he is generally extremely diligent about either tweeting via his handle (@SrBachchan) or talk about it in his blog.

But ofcourse, being well-informed, knowledgeable and articulate is what makes Amitabh Bachchan so charming and enduring as a superstar. With more than 3 million followers on Twitter and an untold number of readers of his blog, everyone is interested in what he has to say.

But for reasons best known to himself, today it seems that Big B is more in the mood to impart gyaan! Why else would he be tweeting random trivia about almost everything under the sun?

Since morning several fun, wacky little known facts have been showing up on Big B’s Twitter page and only Sr Bachchan can tell us why he thinks facts about bees, ships, onions and human brains should take centre stage on his Twitter feed. Here is a sample:

@SrBachchan: The only part of the body that has no blood supply is the cornea in eye. Takes in oxygen directly from the air.

‘It cost 7 million dollars to build the Titanic and 200 million to make a film about it.’

‘The reason honey is so easy to digest is that it’s already been digested by a bee.’

‘The animal responsible for the most human deaths world-wide is the mosquito.’

‘Wearing headphones for just an hour will increase the bacteria in your ear By 700 times.’

‘Chewing gum while peeling onions will keep you away from crying.’

‘A tiny amount of liquor on a scorpion will make it go mad instantly and sting itself to death.’

‘Money isn ’ t made out of paper, it is made out of cotton.’

‘People with blue eyes see better in dark.’

‘People who ride on roller coasters have a higher chance of having a blood clot in the brain.’

Is this part of some campaign for a general knowledge or trivia drive? Only Big B knows. And despite all the other trivia he has imparted, he’s not saying yet!
