Dabangg 2 is the sequel to the 2010 release Dabangg, which was set in a village and had the rustic, rural flavour of Uttar Pradesh. The story of the sequel has shifted to a posh metropolitan city.

Made under the banner of Arbaaz Khan Productions, “Dabangg 2″ has been written by Dilip Shukla. This is Arbaaz’s first film as a director. The film released in over 3,500 screens across India Dec 21.

This year has been very lucky for Salman. Kabir Khan-directed “Ek Tha Tiger” was an Eid release and set the cash registers ringing, but “Dabangg 2” achieved this feat in spite of being a non-holiday release.

The film opened to a collection of Rs 21.10 crore and collected a whopping Rs 65.16 crore during the first three days.
