Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee got a chance to polish his Hindi speaking skills on the set of popular Indian comedy TV show Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain!. He says he is glad that he got a chance to learn the language.
Lee became part of the show to promote his forthcoming romantic comedy film UnIndian.
“Both the bhabhis, Saumya and Shubhangi, are brilliant actors and both are my favourite. I am very happy that I got to learn the Hindi from them. I had a wonderful time shooting with the entire cast too,” Lee said in a statement.
Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain!, aired on &TV, features Aashif Sheikh, Shubhangi Atre, Saumya Tandon and Rohitash Gaud.
"Lee is one of the most admired cricketers in the world. Glad to hear he is coming on the sets of our show. I have heard that he plays the guitar beautifully, so I am hoping to hear him strum for me," Saumya Tandon, who plays Anita in the show, had earlier said in a statement.
Lee shot for the special episode on 27 July, along with his co-star Tannishtha Chatterjee, of Angry Indian Goddesses fame. The sequence had the bowler-turned-actor playing cricket with the cast.
A report in The Times of India says that Brett Lee, who is a fan of Shah Rukh Khan, wants the superstar to be present at his debut film's screening. He will also be inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
Directed by Australia-based Anupam Sharma, UnIndian also stars Gulshan Grover, Supriya Pathak and Nicholas Brown among others. The film narrates the struggles that an Australian teacher and an Indian single mother face in making their family and their community accept their relationship.
UnIndian is slated to release on 19 August in India.
