Son of producer Boney Kapoor and his first wife, Mona, Arjun Kapoor is the latest debutant actor on the block. Although the twenty-something has been in the making for a while now – with his acting classes, fitness regimes and all that Bollywood jazz that goes into the demanding schedule of an actor-in-training, he started filming for his first film, Ishaqzaade, written and directed by Habib Faisal and produced by Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films, alongside Parineeti Chopra only on Sunday. Like many of his predecessors in the business, including first cousin Sonam Kapoor, who were overweight till they decided upon their film careers, Arjun too, was an obese kid till he met Salman Khan, who is responsible for the “starry” physique Arjun flaunts today.

Somewhere along the physical metamorphosis, he dated Salman’s youngest sister, Arpita. Even though the two are not together anymore, they continue to remain friends. Interestingly, his co-star in the film, Parineeti, is Priyanka Chopra’s cousin, and she makes her debut in Maneesh Sharma’s Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl opposite Ranveer Singh. She was working in the Marketing department of Yash Raj Films when she made the switch to being in front of the camera in Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl and now, Ishaqzaade. The film traces the turbulent journey of the young lovers in the unrealistic and daunting, political confines of rural India and is scheduled for a May 2012 release.
