Barfi has grossed 100 cr worldwide in 10 days,” wrote trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Twitter. The film that opened to a huge critical reception has performed exceptionally well at the box office. “Barfi [2nd Week] Mon 3.25 cr. Grand total: 79.45 cr nett. Fabulous!” he added.

The movie, released on September 14 and was made at a budget of Rs 30 crore. The film, about love between differently-abled — a deaf and mute boy and an autistic girl — opened in approximately 700 screens in India.

The romantic comedy has touched viewers and critics alike with its simple, but powerful narrative. The movie, which also stars Priyanka Chopra, marked the Bollywood debut of southern actress Ileana D’Cruz, who has been appreciated for her performance.

The film has been widely appreciated by the film fraternity too. Karan Johar has gone to the extent of saying that Basu’s “genius” makes him feel “talentless”.
