Sep 13, 2012

British radio company Murphy Radio has been shown in a “very positive light” in the film Barfi!, producer Siddharth Roy Kapur said here on Wednesday after the firm sent a legal notice to the team for using their trademark.

The radio manufacturer claimed that their trademark Murphy baby (Murphy Munna in the film’s song) has been used without asking its permission.

The company now wants a stay order on the release of the film.

Siddharth Roy Kapur, however, said there was no infringement and they would respond to the notice.

“It is true we have received a notice from them. We are quite clear that we have done nothing wrong,” Mr Kapur, managing director Disney UTV, told IANS.

“The brand has been presented in a very positive light and we will be responding to the notice,” he added.

Kapur was in Gurgaon along with Barfi! starcast Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz to promote the film, which releases on Friday.

Also accompanying them were director Anurag Basu and music composer Pritam Chakraborty.
