Assault case against Saif, arrest likely

Actor Saif Ali Khan has been booked in a case of assault after he allegedly punched a patron of a restaurant in south Mumbai.

Times Now reported that the complainant Iqbal Sharma told the police he was assaulted when he complained about the actor and his friends making too much noise at the next table.

Sharma, a South African national approached the police last night claiming that he was attacked by Saif and his friends, during which he was punched by the actor, senior police inspector of Colaba police station Vinod Sawant said.

He added that the 41-year-old actor is likely to be arrested.

Saif and his friends attacked him after a heated argument, Sharma told the police in his complaint.

Sharma has registered a case against the actor at the Colaba police station in south Mumbai, the channel said.

The actor and his friends have been booked under IPC 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

A police official who visited the actor’s residence in Mumbai to conduct further inquiries told reporters that Saif was not at home and his whereabouts were not known.

Saif’s next film, Agent Vinod, is presently scheduled to release next month.
