“To be honest with you, I like to be modest. I would like people to get surprised about my work, instead of it being over-hyped. That’s what I’d be more comfortable with. But it’s a big picture. I have to go with the flow,” Lee, 57, said.

Life of Pi is an adaptation of Yann Martel’s bestselling novel of the same title. The film marks the Brokeback Mountain” helmer’s first 3D creation.

The film also got a fantastic response to an early footage screening at CinemaCom, Los Angeles. The film marks the debut of 17-year-old Suraj Sharma, who essays the role of the protagonist- Pi.

“He gives an emotional performance in a movie that has the look of a family film, but it’s also a movie about big ideas. I hope people will spend weeks talking about it, that is my idea of a family film,” Lee said.

Life of Pi also stars Tabu, Irrfan Khan, Adil Hussain and Hollywood star Tobey Maguire. The fantasy film will hit Indian theatres on November 21, a month ahead of its US release.
