Vijay Jolly's antic: What kind of society are we creating?

We need to think what kind of society we are creating. While every wrong doer deserves to be punished as per the law of the land, the savagery that the self appointed custodians of public morality display in attacking the wrong doer needs to be tempered.

What does it say about me as a human being if the only thing that will satisfy me is the complete destruction of an individual. The blood thirsty TV anchors and their pompous panelists who pontificate on sins of others on prime time television only serve to bring out what a dehumanised, debased people we are fast becoming.

The idea that the wrong doer must be stripped of all vestiges of dignity and publicly maimed by a relentless barrage of invective and abuse reflects poorly on those baying for blood. It will be sad day for the nation when public discourse is driven by nothing other than blood lust.
