Bigg Boss Season 10 Episode 7, 23 October 2016: Priyanka Jagga evicted; ‘Indiawale’ breakdown

After securing commoner Manu Punjabi from nominations on Saturday 22 October, we witnessed the first elimination of this season. Towards the end of the show, Salman announced the name of the evicted contestant that sent shock waves among the inmates from both the parties.  Rumours about Priyanka Jagga's ouster turns out to be true and Priyanka's team members were worst affected with most of them breaking into tears; and were seen sobbing uncontrollably while holding each other. But yes, there could be another twist in the next few days.

Salman opened the Sunday episode with an electrifying performance on his popular number '440 Volt' from Sultan. He further shows the housemates some funny pictures of Om Swami and asks them to guess what’s happening in these photos. The exercise takes a hilarious turn when Salman asks Jagga (who apparently teaches American accent in an institute in Delhi), to teach Om Swami and Lokesh talk in American accent.

Salman says that there are so many talented people in the house that the show could be easily named as 'Bigg Boss Got Talent'. He asks Nithibha to sing a song and she sings 'Pehla Nasha' for Karan Mehra as he and his wife love this song.  The contestants are then asked to rank each other on the basis of their popularity which leads to some heated war of words. Om Swami and Priyanka were specially not very pleased considering they were ranked last in the task.

Priyanka Jagga says that she should be No. 1 in the Bigg Boss house as she won the task last week. Bigg Boss contestants ranked each other according to popularity. Swami stood last in the ranking, whereas Rahul Dev stood at the first spot in the popularity task. Salman clarifies that the task was to rank contestants in terms of performance of last week spent in the house. Gaurav Chopra reads the rule book of the ranking task again to clarify the misunderstanding.

It’s the first weekend of Bigg Boss 10  and the contestants had a face-off with Salman, who is clearly unhappy with their performance, "non-involvement" in tasks and a bit aloof  behaviour of the celebrities. He was most pissed at commoners Om Swami and Priyanka because of their rude and loud behaviour inside the house. However, the episode had its funny moments with Salman imitating the very peculiar style of Lokesh Kumari Sharma’s way of talking. She has certainly impressed the host with her funny antics.

And enter former Bigg Boss contestant, Kamya Punjabi, who grills the housemates and gives them some tips and advice as well to remain in top form. Salman gives a sneak peek of the ranking task to Kamya and asks her opinion on how the contestants are conducting themselves inside the house. The former contestant then interacts with the housemates. She mentions that while commoners are playing the game smartly, celebrities were far behind and not showing efforts in performing the tasks.  She says that no matter what, commoners are doing something at least to make their space. She adds that the audience have a lot of expectations from the celebrities, but they are failing to strike a balance while the common folk are on a winning streak.

While she lauds Priyanka for her incredible performance in the rocking horse task, she criticizes Bani for under performing and giving up on the task. However, Bani gives her own reasons for giving up. Just like Salman, Kamya is also impressed with Lokesh and tells her that people outside are loving her and even copying her style of talking. Among celebrities, Kamya praises Lopamudra Raut and Rohan Mehra for taking a stand over matters while she feels that other celebrities like VJ Bani, Gaurav Chopra and Rahul Dev were playing safe.

Some of Kamya’s hard-hitting statements do not go down well with Om Swami resulting into an argument between him and Lopamudra. The argument gets so intense that Lopamudra asks him to "get lost". Salman is super impressed with Lopamudra and applauds her for taking a strong stand against Om Swami.

In a first, Salman conducts 'Salman Ki Sabha' with commoners on the panel consisting of a bus driver, fashion designer, housewife and a lawyer from different cities who interact with Salman and give their perspective on the performance of the contestants in the house. They feel that while the commoners are outshining celebrities and giving them a stiff competition, celebrities need to lose their inhibitions and strike a connect with the common folk of the house. However, they praise Karan Mehra and Rohan for their performance so far.

Towards the end of the episode, Salman finally announces the name of this week’s evicted contestant. Priyanka is shown the exit door, however, it’s heard that Priyanka will be back in the show soon and that her elimination might just be a prank by the makers. Her teammate Manu is heard saying that Priyanka will be back on the show. Not surprising at all because contestants doing her kind of antics and aggressiveness benefit the show.

While the celebrities rejoice on Priyanka’s eviction as one can see from their mood, they suddenly become very chatty,  commoners Navin Prakash and Manu Punjabi are seen crying in the washroom area after bidding adieu to Priyanka. Besides missing her, they perhaps feel that they are left without an anchor who saved them time and again particularly through tasks.

Priyanka comes out of the house and interacts with Salman, who asks her that what could have gone wrong that she was voted out despite playing the game so well. And she admits that she went overboard in just to get noticed by the viewers. “Nobody in the house took a stand besides me, but then yes, it’s difficult to understand the game from outside. It’s a completely different scenario when you are inside,” she says. Well, we cannot agree more with her.
